Kitsap Humane Society Phase 1

In April 2017, MRJ Constructors was selected as the negotiated contractor for the new Kitsap Humane Society facility (KHS) located in Bremerton. The project team included representatives from Kitsap Humane Society, Rice Fergus Miller and Blue Sky Animal Architecture.

MRJ worked with the team for over a year to provide preconstruction services during the preliminary design phase of the project. Extensive planning, cost and schedule control and value engineering studies took place to help get the project to fit within Kitsap Humane Society's budget.

In September 2018, construction started building the new 10,000 square foot facility with a 10-month construction time-frame. Since Kitsap Humane Society is a 24/7 full time operational facility, all precautions for building in an occupied space were necessary. Safety, noise mitigation, clean work site and daily coordination with the Humane Society’s operations personnel were critical to the success of the project. With the same project team, MRJ Constructors is now building the 2nd phase which is a full renovation of their existing facility.
