The Seattle Waldorf School
The Seattle Waldorf School is a private school located in North Seattle. MRJ Constructors and Johnson Southerland Architects teamed up with Seattle Waldorf to renovate the existing campus. The project encompassed a major renovation of their existing facility, additional classroom space and a new facade. The new design worked to soften the angles in the building in both the existing structure and the new bump outs while incorporating “green” design.
The complexity of the project was a result of an accelerated construction schedule which required the entire build-out to be complete during the months of the student’s summer break. Crews started the day after school was out and occupancy was received at the start of the following school year. The project required a complete demolition and renovation of the existing facility, new foundation work and building structure and new restrooms with the construction of an additional 3000 square feet of space in four separate areas. Total gross square footage of renovation including the additional space was 16,355 square feet.
